Total Mixed RationTo emphasize our goal of development and innovation, the company is proud to be the first in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa to produce highly quality TMRs that contain all the nutrients requirements needs to produce meat or milk, through special formulas that match the NRC standers, using the latest specialized programs in ration formulation, and relying on nutrition experts. The TMR consist of a mixture of concentrate mixture containing high quality additives such as vitamins, minerals, anti-mycotoxins, anti-acids, and a mixture of high quality alfalfa hay and corn silage in the same meal. This reduces costs for breeders, increases productivity, and reduces digestive as well as metabolic disorders.

TMR (Total Mixed Ration) is the latest method used worldwide in feeding meat and milk cattle to achieve an increase in production rates and reduce feeding costs that represent over 75% of the project costs of animal production.

The following table illustrates the nutritious value of TMR according to NRC.

The Benefits of TMR

  • Increase milk production. Recent scientific studies proved an increase of 5-8%, not less than 1.25 kg in milk per head per day when the TMR system is applied compared to conventional feeding methods.
  • Therefore, we expect an increase in milk production by at least 375 kg for every cow per season for 305 milking days.
  • Studies proved that, it can even be used in farms that produce over 10,000 tons of milk for per season and apply TMR to increase production rates from 6 to 10%.
  • Concerning the daily weight gain of fattened calves, the results of farms that apply TMR for fattening calves prove a daily increase of 250 to 300 g above the daily production rate.
  • A reduction in the number of bad looking calves in open barns.
  • Reduction in production costs.
  • The most important reason is the ability to reduce the level of fibers in the TMR in case of high milk producing cows that need a high level of energy. Placing an additional percentage of concentrates has positive effects on the milk production rates, animal health and fertility.
  • Using good mixing TMR reduce ration sorting by the animal.

Good production

  • Due to the improvement happen in feed efficiency after TMR feeding, the animal receiving its full needs during early lactation with reduction in negative energy balance, resulting in an increase in BCS, which has a positive impact on the cow after birth. It reduces the days open as well as the number of serves per insemination.
  • Reduces workforce and time spent on preparing rations for animals.

Instructions for using TMR

It is important that milk cows and buffaloes are divided into groups according to milk production and BCS. Therefore, there are at least two groups:

  • The 1st group contains fresh cows and high milk producing cows.
  • The 2nd group contains low and medium milk producing cows.

Division into three groups is better and more economic. It is preferable if there are specialized groups for fresh & 1st lactation cows since they take more time to feed (10-15%) and consume less DMI than multiparous cows.

  • Cows and buffaloes should be divided into two groups during the dry period
  • Animals must be gradually fed with TMR and it must be replaced with the old feed within 7 days.
  • This happens by replacing 25% of feed every couple of days as follows:

Day TMR percentage
1 – 2 25% of the total amount offered per day
3 – 4 50% of the total amount offered per day
5 – 6 75% of the total amount offered per day
